Yes, it's true! toolboy has shared with us today his Tutorial & PPF Patches used for playing GT4 from the HDD with HD Advance... without any PS2 mod-chip required at all!

This is no april fools joke...I have completed the patches necessary to boot this game from a flattened image, without any mod-chips or OSs, etc...only a hdd boot program (hdadvance) is needed!

I finally figured out all the checks in this beast....it was quite a challenge, quite many hurdles to get over to get to the final result, which was to be able to play a flattened DVD9 image of this game without any mod-chips, special firmware, etc...

Only thing you need is this kit, HexEditor installed on your PC (free trial from bpsoft.com), and a good DVD9 image of this game (ie both VOL files).

If somone out there has been working on a VOL extractor/rebuilder, please let me know! I've already removed the checks that look at the integrity of the VOL files (before unpacking)....even though I couldn't really unpack them, I munged them up to at least find where it halts, to identify their check routines...So it's ready to go to DVD5 if someone has made an unpacker!

Please let me know if anyone has problems with this tutorial....I walked through it a few times and it seems okay.....sorry it's a manual procedure, I figured it would stall me even longer if I tried to put it all into a batch...
