The successor to the GP32 has finally been announced. The GP32 was a powerful but unsuccessful rival to the GBA until somebody cracked the firmware. The fact that the device had a fast CPU and used SMC cards for storage lead to a very active community with a lot of homebrew development. It soon became famous as an emulator machine, playing old games from many systems. Game Park did not try to stop this development but supported it instead and the GP32 sells pretty well to this day. Its successor does not do much different but it does everything a little better. Read about it at:

It is still quite unusual to see that they actually advertise the emulation features. With a Linux OS, SD cards for storage and improved processing power, this should be a worthy successor to the GP32. The focus is not only on games but also on multimedia functions with a design similar to portable media players:
